Model Context Protocol

A job tracker MCP server for finance careers.

One URL turns a finance, trading and quant job board, and your own application pipeline, into 41 tools your assistant can use. Search open roles by city, country, kind of firm or ready-made list, star them, move them through your stages, keep notes, set reminders, follow firms. Free, no API key, nothing to install.

Add it to your client.

Pick your client. Every path ends the same way: a sign-in page opens, you approve, and the tools appear. You need a free account and a verified email first.

Claude on the web, the desktop app and mobile. Every plan can add a custom connector; the Free plan allows one.

  1. Open Settings (your initials, bottom left), then Connectors. Newer builds list it under Customize, then Connectors.
  2. Click Add custom connector. Name it Jobs and paste the server URL. Leave the advanced fields empty: no client id, no secret, no headers.
  3. Click Connect on the new row, sign in, then Allow access.
  4. In a chat, click +, open Connectors and check that Jobs is on. The nine briefs are listed there too.

On Team or Enterprise an owner adds it once under Organization settings, and each member then clicks Connect and signs in as themselves.

Plus, Pro, Business, Enterprise and Edu accounts, on the web.

  1. Turn on Developer mode: Settings, then Security and login. Older builds keep it under Apps & Connectors, Advanced settings.
  2. Settings, Apps & Connectors, Create. Name it Jobs, paste the server URL, set Authentication to OAuth, tick the trust box, click Create.
  3. Click Connect, sign in, then Allow access.
  4. In a chat, open the + menu, choose Developer mode and tick Jobs.

Name it in the question: "Use Jobs to find new quant internships in Amsterdam this week". ChatGPT asks you to confirm before anything is written.

One command in a terminal, then one sign-in.

claude mcp add --transport http --scope user jobs

--scope user makes it available in every project. Then start Claude Code, type /mcp, pick jobs and choose Authenticate.

The briefs become slash commands: /jobs:weekly_digest, /jobs:firm_brief Optiver, /jobs:application_plan, /jobs:deadline_calendar, /jobs:compare_roles, /jobs:prep_checklist. Attach a resource with @.

Cursor 1.0 or later. Remote servers with OAuth work without a gateway or a wrapper.

~/.cursor/mcp.json
{
  "mcpServers": {
    "jobs": {
      "type": "http",
      "url": " "
    }
  }
}

Save, then open Cursor Settings, Tools & MCP. Jobs shows Needs login: click it, sign in, allow access. The dot turns green.

VS Code 1.99 or later with Copilot in agent mode.

.vscode/mcp.json
{
  "servers": {
    "jobs": {
      "type": "http",
      "url": " "
    }
  }
}

Or run MCP: Add Server from the Command Palette, choose HTTP and paste the URL. VS Code asks whether the server may sign you in; allow it.

Any client that speaks MCP over Streamable HTTP with OAuth 2.1. Most of them read this shape, which is the same one Cursor, Windsurf and Cline use.

{
  "mcpServers": {
    "jobs": {
      "type": "http",
      "url": " "
    }
  }
}

There is no API key and no header to set. The server registers your client automatically (dynamic client registration) and sends you to a sign-in page on first use. If your client cannot do OAuth, it cannot reach your pipeline; the public board is still readable through the site.

The 41 tools.

Seven read the public board and its catalogues. The rest read and write your own records, the same ones the site shows you under Overview and Account.

The board

Public. No sign-in needed.

search_jobsOpen roles by words, firm, city, country, kind of firm, ready-made list, role type, level, workplace and date. Filters combine.
latest_jobsWhat appeared most recently, for a digest.
get_jobOne role in full: the description, and the closing date, pay range, employment and workplace type where the firm declared them.
list_companiesEvery firm covered, with its kinds and open count; by kind, country or city, with or without the firms that have nothing open today.
list_eventsInsight days, spring weeks, hackathons and career events worldwide, with the professional conferences on request.
market_statsWho is hiring: new roles this week versus last, the firms posting most, rising firms, the mix by level, type, country and city.
browse_listsThe 41 ready-made lists with live counts, and the 19 kinds of firm.
list_citiesThe 49 city pages: open roles, hiring firms, busiest firms, events.

Your pipeline

Your own records, after sign-in.

my_rolesEverything on your account: stars, stages, lists, notes, reminders, watches, saved lists and cities, followed firms, filters, hidden.
my_profileYour own background: your analysed CV plus the details you added, only if you allow it on your account page. Read only.
update_profileEdit the About you details on your account page and the "Sophron® may contact me" switch. Assistant access itself is only switched on by you, on the site.
save_roleStar a role, or fifty at once, so it stays on your board.
set_stageNot Applied, Applying, Applied, Interviewing, Final Round, Offer, Rejected. One role or many; clear it too.
add_noteA note on a role: the recruiter's name, what you were asked.
untrack_roleTake a role off your overview: star, stage, note, reminders and lists in one go.
best_fitsA ranked shortlist of open roles that fit you, each with the reasons, from your filters, saved roles and (with your permission) your profile.
track_outside_roleTrack a role that is not on the board, from its link: it takes stages, notes and reminders like any other.
manage_listYour own buckets of roles. Create, add, remove, rename, delete.
save_listKeep a ready-made list or a city page, the star on /lists.
follow_companyFollow a firm: new roles there ride in your email.
my_events save_eventThe career events you saved, and starring one.
saved_filtersThe filter set the board and the events page open with.

Networking, CVs and letters

What you keep under Tools on the site.

my_networkThe people you know or want to meet: stage, last contact, replies owed, coffee chats, notes and the next follow-up.
update_networkAdd a person, log or plan a coffee chat, set a follow-up, move someone to the next stage.
my_documentsYour saved CVs and cover letters, and any one in full, to improve it or tailor it to another role.
save_documentSave a new CV or cover letter into your editor, where you finish it and download the PDF. It never replaces one you have.

Reminders and watches

Everything due arrives in one email a day.

set_reminderA date, optionally a time, on a role or as free text.
list_remindersWhat is coming up.
cancel_reminderDrop one.
watchNew roles at a firm, matching words, in a city, category or level.
list_watchesWhat you are watching.
unwatchStop one.

Noise and email

Make the board yours.

hide_companyHide a firm, or only one of its categories.
hide_roleHide a single role.
mute_roleEmail about one tracked role off or on.
report_roleTell us a posting is wrong or gone.
notification_settingsOn or off, daily or weekly, the hour, the timezone.
career_alertsNew roles matching your category, level and region filters.
my_usageHow many calls you made today, and the ceiling.

Briefs

One tool, nine ready-made answers.

get_briefweekly_digest, firm_brief, city_brief, list_brief, application_plan, deadline_calendar, compare_roles, prep_checklist, application_draft. Each pulls its own data server side, so a digest costs one call.

Resources

Attach them by URI where your client supports it.

sophron://me/pipelineYour applications as one document.
sophron://tracker/statsWhat is open right now, by type, level, city and country.
sophron://firmsThe firm list, and sophron://firms/<name> for one.
sophron://listsThe ready-made lists, and sophron://lists/<slug> for one list's roles.
sophron://citiesThe city pages, and sophron://cities/<slug> for one city's roles and events.

Nine briefs, ready made.

Also published as MCP prompts, so clients that surface prompts list them by name.

weekly_digest

This week

What opened in the last few days, at the firms you follow first, narrowed to a city if you name one.

firm_brief

One firm

What kind of firm it is, everything open there, what it hires for, and where you already stand with it.

city_brief

One city

What is open there today, the busiest firms, the roles that fit you, and the events coming up.

list_brief

One list

A ready-made list read for you: what it holds, which firms, the newest additions, the fits.

application_plan

What to do next

Your pipeline read back as an ordered list of next actions, your roles' own closing dates first.

deadline_calendar

What closes when

The dated things ahead, including your roles' closing dates, optionally for one country.

compare_roles

Two roles

A side by side on level, place, firm, closing date, pay and what the posting asks for.

prep_checklist

Before the interview

A checklist built from the role and the firm.

application_draft

Your application

The posting joined to your own CV profile: a letter, the usual answers, the honest gaps.

How it differs from the other job MCP servers.

Most of them do one of two things. This one does both, and stays in one field.

It is a board, not a search wrapper

The roles are firms' own openings, and every one links to the firm's own posting, which is where you apply. Nothing here is a copy of a job page and nothing is auto-applied on your behalf.

It remembers, not just searches

Stars, stages, lists, notes and reminders are stored against your account, so your assistant and the website read the same pipeline. Close the chat and it is still there.

One field, done properly

Finance, trading, quant, technology and consulting, from summer and off-cycle internships through graduate programmes to entry level. A narrow board that is right beats a wide one that is stale.

Hosted, free, no key

Nothing to self-host, no Docker, no npx, no token to paste into a config file. One URL and a sign-in. The connector is free and has no paid tier.

Things people ask it.

Once it is connected, plain words are enough.

"What quant internships opened in Amsterdam this week?"
"Star the Jane Street graduate roles and set them to Applying."
"What is open at Optiver, and where do I stand with them?"
"Remind me about the Morgan Stanley deadline on 14 October."
"Watch IMC for anything new at entry level."
"Give me my weekly digest for London."
"Which of my applications have gone quiet?"
"Compare these two summer internships for me."

Questions.

What is a job tracker MCP server?

An MCP server that gives an AI assistant tools for a job search: searching open roles, saving the interesting ones, and recording where each application stands. Instead of copying listings into a chat, the assistant queries the board directly and writes back to your own pipeline, so what you tell Claude or ChatGPT and what you see on the site are the same records.

How do I add it to Claude?

Settings, then Connectors, then Add custom connector. Paste the server URL, leave the advanced fields empty, click Add, then Connect on the new row and sign in. Custom connectors work on every Claude plan; the Free plan allows one.

Does it work with ChatGPT and Cursor?

Yes. It is a standard remote MCP server over Streamable HTTP with OAuth 2.1, dynamic client registration and PKCE, so any compliant client can connect: Claude, Claude Code, ChatGPT in developer mode, Cursor, VS Code with Copilot agent mode, Windsurf, Cline and others. No API key is issued or needed.

Is it free?

Yes. The connector is free, with no paid tier: the board, the account, the email alerts and the connector cost nothing. The rate limit is 60 calls per minute per member.

What can it read and write?

It reads the public board and, once you sign in, your own tracker records: starred roles, application stages, lists, notes, reminders, watches and alert settings. It can write to those same records. It cannot read anything belonging to another member, and it never sends your details to a firm. You apply on the firm's own page, in your own name.

Do I need to self-host it?

No. It is hosted, so there is nothing to install, no Docker image and no npx command. You paste one URL into your client and sign in.

Will it apply to jobs for me?

No, and that is deliberate. It finds, saves and tracks. The application itself stays with you, on the firm's own page, in your own words.

How do I revoke access?

From your client's connector settings, the same place you added it. Tokens last 30 days and renew while the connector stays enabled.

Which firms are covered?

Over 1,000, across finance, trading, quant, technology and consulting. The full list is on the Companies page. If a firm is missing, write to [email protected]. Being on the board is free and always will be.

Two minutes now, then just ask.

Create a free account, connect it once, and the searching, the starring and the chasing move to your assistant.
